Required Shipment Information for Imports with Focus Shipping

To ensure a smooth and efficient import process, Focus Shipping Services requires the following shipment details from you. Providing accurate and timely information allows us to manage your freight logistics professionally, whether you’re shipping via Air Freight or Sea Freight.

Supplier Information

To coordinate your shipment with your supplier and confirm the shipping terms, please provide:

  • Supplier’s Full Name
  • Supplier’s Address (including city and country)
  • Contact Person’s Full Name
  • Contact Person’s Email and Phone Number

This helps us identify who is preparing your goods and who we should communicate with regarding pickup and documentation.

Cargo Ready Date

The Cargo Ready Date refers to when your goods will be ready for pickup at the supplier’s location.

  • If shipping on EX Works (EXW) terms, Focus Shipping Services will arrange pickup from the supplier’s premises on or after this date.
  • If shipping on Free on Board (FOB) terms and you deliver the goods to the departure port yourself, the Cargo Ready Date is the date you drop the goods off.

Please ensure this date is confirmed with your supplier.

Target Delivery Date

Let us know your Target Date—the preferred date for your cargo to be delivered to its final destination in Australia.

Your Target Date should factor in:

  • Transit times
  • Customs clearance
  • Your business requirements (e.g. sales, stock deadlines)

We will use this to help plan your shipping route and timing.

Preferred Shipping Method: Sea or Air?

Choosing between Sea Freight and Air Freight depends on several key factors:

OptionProsUse Case
Air FreightFast, reliable, ideal for urgent shipmentsSmall, high-value, or time-sensitive cargo
Sea FreightCost-effective, ideal for larger shipmentsBulky or non-urgent shipments

Please inform us of your preferred method so we can plan accordingly.

Shipment Details

We require the following information to accurately quote and arrange your shipment:

  • Contents of the shipment (product type, material, use)
  • Total weight and dimensions (in kg and cm/m)
  • Commodity Type (e.g. electronics, apparel, machinery)
  • Sea Freight or Air Freight?
  • Shipping mode: Full Container Load (FCL) or Less than Container Load (LCL)

Providing precise details allows us to ensure safe and efficient shipping.

Point of Delivery & Contact Information

Please provide the exact delivery address in Australia, including:

  • Street address, suburb, state, and postcode
  • Preferred FCL container door direction, if applicable
  • Name and contact number of the person who will receive the goods

Having this information upfront enables us to coordinate with carriers and deliver your cargo on schedule.

Required Documents for Customs Clearance

To legally import goods into Australia, we require the following documentation:

1. Customs Clearance Authority (CCA)

This form authorises Focus Shipping Services to act on your behalf with Australian Border Force (ABF) for customs clearance. It must be signed before we proceed.

Additional Supplier Documentation

As your shipment progresses, please forward us the following documents as soon as you receive them:

Commercial Invoice

Details the value and quantity of the goods. Essential for customs valuation and GST/duty assessment.

Packing List

Includes item descriptions, packaging details, weights, and dimensions.

Packing Declaration (Sea Freight only)

Declares what packing materials were used (e.g. timber, plastic), required by Australian Quarantine (DAFF).

Certificate of Origin

If importing from a country with a Free Trade Agreement (e.g. China, Thailand, Vietnam, India), this document may reduce or eliminate import duties.
